Summary by Persona (Grouped by Role)
👩⚕️ Clinicians / Therapists
- Therapists can use AI Scribe, create custom-form progress reports, amend signed documents, and access patient medical history directly in clinical forms. Improvements to AI progress tracking, document saving, and page performance also make documentation easier.
🧑💼 Admins
- Admins can configure document tags, manage bulk document imports, set up multiple billing providers, customize patient portal session summary settings, and use new medical history components in custom forms.
💳 Billers / Guardians
-
Billers: New tools support payer-specific billing code exclusions, secondary claim adjustments, multiple billing providers, multi-payer payments, location-specific NPIs, and authorization monitoring. Billing pages and exports also load faster.
-
Guardians/Patients: Families can enter medical history through intake forms, and practices can automatically make session summaries available in the patient portal for new patients.
🚀 New Feature - AI Scribe
👥 Audience: Therapists
🛠️ Steps to Access: Open a clinical document built from a custom form and click AI Scribe (beta) at the top of the form. Available on Professional plans.
📢 What's new?: The AI Scribe lets you talk through a session in your own words and have the clinical document fill in its fields for you to review, edit, and sign. Nothing is ever added without your review, and your own writing is always kept.
🚀 New Feature - Progress Reports
👥 Audience: Therapists and administrators
🛠️ Steps to Access: An administrator turns on the Progress reports section under Organization settings, EMR settings, Patient profile. Therapists need the Create Progress Report permission and an allowed credential; choosing which goals a report shows needs the Manage Goals permission.
📢 What's new?: Progress reports are now custom-form documents. Your organization designs the form, and therapists fill it in with each goal's progress over the reporting period, propose goal changes that take effect when the report is signed, save, sign and print it like any other document. Each goal shows one progress chart covering the reporting period to begin with, and a gear on each chart (or one for the whole report) chooses what it draws and the dates it covers: this period, every session, or dates of your own; the choice is kept with the report and printed the same way.
🚀 New Feature - Amendments and Addenda
👥 Audience: Therapists
🛠️ Steps to Access: Amend and Add addendum buttons on a signed Plan of Care, Evaluation, Discharge, or Progress Report built from a custom form. Other signed documents now show Add addendum.
📢 What's new?: When updating a signed document, you can now choose between an amendment (edit the document's own fields directly, with a history of exactly what changed and a view of the original as it was signed) and an addendum (append a signed note without changing the document). Existing note-style entries now display as addenda.
🚀 New Feature - Patient's Medical History
👥 Audience: Admins who build custom forms, therapists, and families using the patient portal
🛠️ Steps to Access: Add "Patient's Medical History" to your intake form, and to your evaluation or plan of care form. Intake forms you already added to a patient will not change, so add the updated form to use the new field.
📢 What's new?: You can now show a patient's medical history directly on an evaluation or plan of care. It fills in with whatever is on the patient's profile, and any edits a therapist makes there update the profile when the document is saved, so there is no need to open the patient's record separately. If you would rather show it for reference only, check the "Read only" box on the component and it will display without being editable.
Families can fill in the patient's medical history on an intake form in the patient portal. It is saved to the patient's profile and shows up on evaluations and plans of care that have the same field, so you do not have to retype it. You can still change it there. Once a form has changed the medical history, the patient's profile shows who changed it and when: select "View history" under Medical history.
🚀 New Feature - Document Tags
👥 Audience: Admins
🛠️ Steps to Access: Go to the 'Custom alert configurations' link under 'Organization admin', open the Document tags tab and click Create a new document tag type. Choose the name of your document tag, choose if that document has an expiration date (to create expiring alerts) and click save! After saved, your team can add document tags to the patient profile.
📢 What's new?: Does your organization require uploaded documents on every patient profile? Now you can create alerts for those needs through custom alerts!
🚀 New Feature - Location NPI
👥 Audience: Admins, Billers
🛠️ Steps to Access: Edit organization → Locations and facilities → add or edit a clinic, school or other location
📢 What's new?: You can now enter an NPI for a location. When a location has its own NPI, claims for services at that location will automatically use it; locations without one continue to bill under your practice's NPI, so nothing changes unless you enter a value. Leave the field blank if the location bills under your practice's NPI, and confirm with the payer if you are unsure. The NPI is used on claims only for payers set to use the event location as the service facility address, and only when the location's address is different from your practice's address.
🚀 New Feature - Bulk Document Import
👥 Audience: Admins, Practice Staff
🛠️ Steps to Access: Organization admin → Bulk document import → New Import. Requires the Manage Bulk Document Imports permission.
📢 What's new?: Staff can now upload a zip file of patient document folders exported from another system. Ambiki will automatically match each folder to the correct patient and let staff review and confirm which files to import before anything is saved to patient records.
🚀 New Feature - Payment Method Exclusions
👥 Audience: Admins, Billers
🛠️ Steps to Access: Under Patient → Payment methods → Edit an insurance payment method → Advanced options, a new "Exclusions" section lets you add one or more billing codes to exclude.
📢 What's new?: You can now tell Ambiki which billing codes should not be auto-invoiced to a specific insurance payment method. When a treatment report is completed, those codes are skipped on the auto-generated invoice for that payer, so your team doesn't have to clean up invoices after the fact.
🚀 New Feature - Insurance Company Excluded Billing Codes
👥 Audience: Billers and admins
🛠️ Steps to Access: Billing > Insurance companies > Edit, "Excluded billing codes".
📢 What's new?: You can now list billing codes an insurance company never covers, once, for every patient. Those codes are left off that payer's automatic invoices. If a visit's services are all excluded for the primary payer, the secondary payer's claim now explains why it can't be sent and what to do.
🚀 New Feature - Edit Payer Adjustments
👥 Audience: Billers and Admins
🛠️ Steps to Access: Requires the "Manage EDI files" permission.
📢 What's new?: You can now review and update the payer adjustment codes and remark codes Ambiki sends on a secondary insurance claim. Open a secondary claim and choose "Edit payer adjustments" to see what the first payer reported next to what Ambiki will send, make your changes, preview the result, and apply it. Adjustments you make to a posted payment are also picked up when you reload or recreate a claim file.
🚀 New Feature - Multiple Billing Providers
👥 Audience: Admins / billing staff at practices that bill under more than one company
🛠️ Steps to Access: Billing → Provider info and service rates → Go → New billing provider. With two or more, use Billing provider assignments to set which company each type of service or plan bills under.
📢 What's new?: Practices that bill under more than one company can now set which company each type of service or each patient's insurance plan bills under, and claims will use the right company automatically.
🚀 New Feature - Select Multi-Payer Payment
👥 Audience: Billers with the Manage EDI files permission
🛠️ Steps to Access: Open the visit's treatment report. On the secondary insurance invoice, open Invoice actions, choose Select multi-payer payment, pick the first payer's payment, then click Save multi-payer payment.
📢 What's new?: When the first payer paid a visit in more than one payment, choose which payment Ambiki reports on the secondary claim.
🛠️ Fix - AI Progress Tracking Captures Prompting Details and Trial Counts
👥 Audience: Therapists using AI progress tracking on visit notes
❗ Issue: AI progress tracking did not fill in the prompting level or prompting types for therapy activities, and it missed trial counts written as plus and minus marks.
✅ Action Steps: None. Activities created from new visit notes now include the prompting level and types when the note describes them, and trial counts written with plus and minus marks are read.
🛠️ Fix - Image and File Uploads in Text Boxes Work Reliably
👥 Audience: All users
❗ Issue: An image or file added to a text box, such as a message, sometimes did not upload, and nothing said so. It now uploads, and if a file still can't be added, a message explains why.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Inactive Insurance Plans Receive an End Date
👥 Audience: Admins and billing staff who manage patient insurance
❗ Issue: An insurance plan could be marked inactive without an end date, which left it looking like it still covered earlier visits.
✅ Action Steps: When you mark an insurance plan inactive, the end date is filled in with today with the ability to set your own earlier date.
🚀 New Feature - Updated Ambiki Link Previews
👥 Audience: Anyone sharing an Ambiki link
🛠️ Steps to Access: Paste an ambiki.com link into a message or post.
📢 What's new?: Links to Ambiki now show an updated preview image.
🛠️ Fix - Plan of Care Date Validation Preserves Entered Goals
👥 Audience: Therapists
❗ Issue: Saving a plan of care with an end date earlier than its start date showed an error and cleared any goals that had been added. The plan of care now points to the date before saving, so nothing entered is lost.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🚀 New Feature - Press Releases Added to the Ambiki Website
👥 Audience: Website visitors
🛠️ Steps to Access: Visit the Press page on ambiki.com.
📢 What's new?: The Press page now has a Press Releases section, starting with our announcement of additional investment from Green Hills Partners. You can read the release on the site or download it as a PDF.
🚀 New Feature - Authorizations Needing Attention on Billing Home
👥 Audience: Billers and admins who use the Billing home
🛠️ Steps to Access: Shown on the Billing home by default. It can be turned on or off in Dashboard settings under Billing home modules.
📢 What's new?: The Billing home now includes the "Authorizations needing attention" list, so you can see which authorizations are expiring soon or running low without leaving your home page.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Treatment Report Services and Exports
👥 Audience: Billers and admins
❗ Issue: The treatment report services page and its export now load faster.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Page Loading Across Ambiki
👥 Audience: All users
❗ Issue: Behind-the-scenes improvement to how quickly pages load.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Signing of Visit Notes and Plans of Care
👥 Audience: Therapists
❗ Issue: Behind-the-scenes improvement to how quickly visit notes and plans of care are signed.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Loading of Plans of Care and Evaluations
👥 Audience: Therapists
❗ Issue: Behind-the-scenes improvement to how quickly plans of care and evaluations load.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🛠️ Fix - Faster Resource Calendar Loading
👥 Audience: Website visitors
❗ Issue: Behind-the-scenes improvement to how quickly the resource calendar loads.
✅ Action Steps: None.
🚀 New Feature - Show Session Summaries in the Patient Portal by Default
👥 Audience: Admins, Therapists
🛠️ Steps to Access: Organization settings > EMR settings > Patient portal. No feature flag.
📢 What's new?: Practices can now choose to have session summaries shown in the patient portal for every new patient, so families see the summaries therapists create without an extra step on each patient profile. New practices start with this turned on. Each patient's own setting can still be turned off on their profile, and patients already in Ambiki are not changed.
🛠️ Fix - Early Intervention Available When Importing Payers
👥 Audience: Admins who import payers
📅 Date range affected: N/A
❗ Issue: Early Intervention was missing from the billing type choices when importing payers, so those payers had to be edited after import.
✅ Action Steps: None. Early Intervention is now available in the payer upload template and on the import review page.
Thank you for choosing Ambiki.
