💳 Billers / Guardians

  • Billers: Billing staff can configure payer-specific taxonomy rules, see corrected patient responsibility amounts, hold and release claim submissions, and rely on more accurate automatic claim submission timing.

  • Guardians/Patients: Patients and guardians now receive clearer guidance on using their practice invitation to access the patient portal and requesting a new invitation when needed.

🚀 New Feature - Payer-Specific Taxonomy Codes for Claims

👥 Audience: Admins and billing staff

🛠️ Steps to Access: Ask Ambiki support if you need this feature turned on for you. Insurance company edit page, "Taxonomy rules" card; "Claim program" on the patient's insurance coverage form when adding or editing a coverage.

📢 What's new?: You can now set the provider taxonomy codes an insurance company requires on claims, including a separate code for Early Intervention coverages. Claims to that insurance company will use the codes you set instead of the ones from your billing provider record and your therapists' credentials. You can also mark a patient's insurance coverage as Early Intervention (Part C) when adding or editing it, so claims for that coverage use the Early Intervention codes.

🛠️ Fix - Group Session Attendance Logs Show the Correct Patient's Attendance

👥 Audience: Therapists, Admins

📅 Date range affected: N/A

❗ Issue: We fixed an issue where a patient's attendance logs for group sessions could show attendance belonging to other patients in the group.

✅ Action Steps: None. Attendance logs refresh automatically overnight. If you exported or shared attendance logs for group sessions before this update, please pull them again.

🛠️ Fix - Patient Invoices Show the Latest Patient Responsibility

👥 Audience: Billing staff, Admins

📅 Date range affected: N/A

❗ Issue: We fixed an issue where a patient invoice could show more patient responsibility than the insurance company's latest decision when several remittances were received for the same service.

✅ Action Steps: None. Patient statements that were already generated do not change; generate a new statement if an updated one is needed.

🛠️ Fix - Clearer Patient Portal Access Guidance

👥 Audience: Patients, legal guardians, and therapy practices

❗ Issue: Some parents who could not reach the patient portal ended up with the wrong kind of account and could not get in.

✅ Action Steps: None. The sign up and forgot password pages now explain that parents, guardians, and patients should use the invitation from their practice, and how to ask for a new invitation link themselves.

🚀 New Feature - Hold and Release Insurance Claim Submission

👥 Audience: Billing admins

🛠️ Steps to Access: Users who can invoice/reinvoice treatment reports. Treatment report page → actions menu → "Hold claim submission" / "Release claim hold".

📢 What's new?: You can now place a treatment report's insurance claim on hold so it is not submitted, and release it when you are ready. A hold can be placed before the claim is created, held claims show an "On hold" status on the claim pages, and the treatment reports list has a "Claims on hold only" filter.

🛠️ Fix - Automatic Claim Submission Timing Is Accurate

👥 Audience: Billing admins on organizations that submit claims after a delay

❗ Issue: The "Submitting automatically after" time on the treatment report page could be inaccurate, and in some cases a claim that was ready was not submitted automatically.

✅ Action Steps: None. Affected treatment reports will be submitted at the next scheduled run.

🛠️ Fix - Search for Patients During Bulk Document Import

👥 Audience: Admins

❗ Issue: On the bulk document import review page, choosing a patient for an unrecognized folder meant scrolling a list of every patient in the practice.

✅ Action Steps: None. You can now start typing a patient's name and pick from the matching results.
