Make With Shapes -- Before School Hygiene and Health
Description
This resource provides shapes that can be traced and steps for laying out the completed shapes to create an image. The patient can then match the completed image they created with one of 3 photos. There is also a prompt to ask them the name of the item and its function.
Skills
Fine motor control, visual perceptual, pre-reading, following directions, attention to task, hygiene, eye-hand coordination, similar matching, social skills, and spatial awareness
Strategies and techniques
Have the patient trace each shape and color it in if it has a color on the example page (even numbered pages).
I use 2-step instructions like, “Clap 3 times and draw a little circle” but you can adapt to have them trace each shape however you’d like.
On the last page of each shape activity are a few images. Have them stamp or circle what they drew, then name the item and state its function.

Teletherapy Tips
Print out the steps for each image so you can refer to it without changing pages in the session.
In-person Tips
In addition to the teletherapy instructions, you could include cutting each shape out to use as manipulatives or to have them glue into the bottom box.
