We’re thrilled to announce that organizations can now send SMS appointment reminders directly to their patients! 
 
With this powerful new feature, you can: 
  • Customize when reminders are sent (e.g., 1 hour, 2 hours, or 1 day before the appointment) 
  • Personalize the message content to match your practice's voice 
  • Allow patients to confirm or cancel appointments through a secure patient portal link (enabled by default) 
 
You can also control which patients receive SMS reminders by visiting their Contact Info page and enabling or disabling the feature. (By default, this will be disabled.) Patients must also have a phone number of type "Mobile" marked as "Preferred" to receive reminders. 
 
How does it work? 
  1. Enable the SMS appointment reminder add-on from the subscription page 
  2. Complete the SMS onboarding steps from the organization settings page 
  3. Set up your appointment reminder preferences 
  4. Once your onboarding is verified (typically within 1-21 business days), the Ambiki platform will automatically start sending SMS reminders using your appointment reminder preferences – provided the patient is eligible to receive them (which they are not by default) 
 
How can a patient be eligible to receive SMS reminders? 
To be eligible for SMS appointment reminders, a patient must first provide consent to receive SMS messages from your organization. Once consent is given, you can enable reminders by going to the patient’s Contact Info and checking the "Enable appointment reminders" checkbox. Alternatively, the patient can provide consent by texting START to your organization's phone number. You can find your organization's phone number in Step 2 of the "Onboarding steps" page. 
 
Who can set this up? 
Only organization admins can complete the onboarding process and access the appointment reminder settings.
